1. Dentist apt went well. complimented on clean teeth. had to set up apt for filling next week. 2. Gyn apt went well. 3. Received call from Dr office to set up apt for sleep study - seems my insurance will almost entirely cover it. I'll only have to pay around $30. 4. Stopped by Tmobile to ask what's wrong with my phone. Ended up getting new phone. Only had to pay tax and a small upgrade fee - all totaling just under $25. First phone I've owned with a camera. 5. Found out that we are Officially closing end of March. Last open day is 30th, closed for Inventory on 31st - which is likely my last day. 6. Applied for job with AFTRA. Would be very educational and possibly get me some good industry contacts - and only pays about $6000 less a year than I'm making now. As big a sum as that may sound - it's actually pretty good compared to what I'd make at a lot of jobs out there right now. Here's crossing my fingers. 7. Can't say what it is, but may get very depressing news soon. Rather worried. Does not dramatically effect my life (as in no extra stress) but will make me cry a lot if it happens. 8. Looking at prices for flight to England in October for friends wedding. Depending on what my future holds I can't really afford it but I very much want to be there for the happy couple. This is one of few weddings I would be really upset to miss.
I think that covers today. It's been a busy day. I think it's nap time now. Sat, Feb. 20th, 2010, 11:20 pm
My first branching into a steampunk larp was quite entertaining. I had a great time, so thank you to our host and to all the great people I played with.
The only real things lacking for me were Lynn and Bill because when I think gaming and steampunk together They're who come to mind. Tue, Jan. 26th, 2010, 10:59 pm
I love you guys. Sorry I don't post much. To be honest I'd almost forgotten this place existed until I needed to vent about creepy guy.
So thanks to all the awesome friends I have! Mon, Jan. 25th, 2010, 09:32 pm VENTING
To the guy on the bus who insisted on talking to me even when I said I didn't want to talk and went on and on about how he didn't want to rape me, even though I was very sexy, because it was MY people who raped and enslaved his people not the other way around.
FIRST OFF! THERE IS NO YOUR PEOPLE AND MY PEOPLE - WE'RE ALL PEOPLE!!
But, if you insist on differentiating us by the color of our skin... here's a few things to keep in mind: 1. "Your" people enslaved each other and sold each other as slaves to "my" people 2. "My" people enslaved and murdered each other as well. 3. I have Iroquois in me. Which means "my" people slaughtered and displaced "my other" people.
Humanity has a history of raping and killing and enslaving people. It's not just You.
I PERSONALLY HAVE NEVER ENSLAVED ANYONE - SO QUIT BLAMING ME.
YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN ENSLAVED - SO QUIT CLAIMING YOUR ANCESTORS PAIN AS YOUR OWN.
I am SO sick of people assuming I don't want to talk to them because they're a different color, race, gender, whatever. It has nothing to do with that. If I've had a bad day or I'm trying to wind down - I don't want to talk to ANYONE I don't know. It's not personal. It's not you. It's nothing about you except that I don't already know you. In some cases I don't even want to talk to people I know. So quit assuming I'm racist because I don't want to talk to you - just leave me alone when I politely ask you to. If I was in the mood to talk to strangers, I WOULD. Fri, Sep. 18th, 2009, 12:15 pm
Reason's why I'm not around:
1. most time on computer is spent on gmail and casting sites 2. very little time spent on computer 3. stressed with no real outlet at the moment 4. out of town a lot
I think that covers the highlights. But I am alive and I am well overall. Sun, Jun. 14th, 2009, 11:19 pm
Who's going to GenCon??
So a month ago the world lost one of the most influential dancers it's ever known, Frankie Manning.
I only just found out today, on what would have been his 95th birthday.
He was one of the creators of Lindy Hop. He was in almost every movie of the period that had lindy in it (in fact one of my favorites is the Marx Brother's Day at the Races).
It's a great loss
I'm particularly sad because I never had the chance to be at a lindy exchange where he was to have the chance to dance with him before he passed. The things I could've learned.
Ok, So I've been pretty much avoiding being online for any length of time - which includes livejournal. IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD IMPORTANT LIFE HAPPENINGS YOU FEEL I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT - please tell me, as I haven't been on here to read them.
Next, IF you have a journal outside of lj (cough Jen B cough) please email me the link. I've had to reformat my dear computer and my bookmarks appears to be the one thing I forgot to save a copy of before doing so.
I think that covers the highlights. I am alive. I'm ok. I'm just.. I don't know, not wanting to stare at a computer screen in the time I'm not at work. |
